'Prevention of corruption is essential for sustainable development'

To maintain this trend of development, it is very necessary to prevent corruption, said President Md. Abdul Hamid.

He called upon the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to take necessary steps to punish the corrupt.

On Sunday (September 19) evening, ACC Chairman Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah and Commissioner Zahurul Haque called on the President at Bangabhaban. The President said this at that time.

He said Bangladesh is moving forward on the path of development and progress. However, prevention of corruption is very necessary to make this trend of development sustainable.

The President said that initiatives should be taken by the educational institutions, society and family so that the young generation can grow up with an anti-corruption attitude.

During the meeting, the ACC chairman informed the President about the overall activities of the commission. At the time, the President hoped that the Anti-Corruption Commission would take strict measures to prevent institutional corruption as well as informal corruption.

At the time, Secretary to the President's Office Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salahuddin Islam and Secretary (attached) Md. Wahidul Islam Khan were present.
