Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has joined the high –level discussion of the first day of the 76th General Assembly of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). News bss.
She joined on Tuesday (September 21) morning local time. The General Assembly session will be held from September 21 to September 28.
Sheikh Hasina will address on September 24. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered his historic speech at the United Nations in Bengal in 1974. Following his footsteps, the Prime Minister will address in Bengali again like last year.
The 76th session of the UNGA began on September 14. On the same day, Abdullah Shahid of Maldives was sworn in as the President of the 76th Session of the General Assembly and inaugurated the session.
Due to the global pandemic, the size of the delegations will be limited if the General Assembly convenes and UN member states were encouraged to make previously recorded statements instead of visiting headquarters.
More than 100 heads of state and government are expected to attend in person.
