Special court to deliver verdict of corruption case against Babar today

Dhaka: Death sentence awarded convict of August 21 grenade attack case, former state minister of Home Affairs Lutfuzzaman Babar will face another verdict today for illegal acquisition of assets and concealment of information. The case was filed by ACC.

Judge Mohammad Shahidul Islam of Dhaka Special Judge's Court-7 will pronounce the verdict today(Tuesday).

Earlier, on October 4 (Monday), the judge of the Dhaka Special Judge's Court-7 set the date for the verdict after presenting arguments on behalf of the state and the accused.

Lutfuzzaman Babar was sentenced to death in the August 21 grenade attack case. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against him on January 13, 2008 at Ramna Police Station for illegal acquisition of assets and concealment of information. The plaintiff in the case is Mirza Zahidul Alam, the then assistant director of the ACC's integrated district office Chattogram-1. Following the investigation, ACC deputy assistant director Rupak Kumar Saha submitted chargesheet in the court on July 16 of that year.
