14 Covid-19 deaths, 543 new cases recorded in 24 hours: DGHS

A total of fourteen people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:am Tuesday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 27,713, and the death rate stands at 1.77 percent.

At least 543 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 15,63,501, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 2.35 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.64 percent.

A total of 23,155 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours. Besides, at least 701 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,25,168, and the recovery rate at 97.55 percent.

Among the 14 deceased, 10 were men and four were women. Of them, one was under 10, two between 31-40, one between 41-50, and 10 were above 60 years old, added the release.

It may be mentioned that the first case of corona infection was detected in Bangladesh on last March 8, 2020 while the first death occurred on March 18.
