The International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimates that tackling Corona impact Bangladesh's gross domestic product (GDP) will be 6.5 percent in the current 2021-22 fiscal year.
The IMF's 'World Economic Outlook' report released on Tuesday (October 12) predicts Bangladesh's GDP growth with other countries in the world.
The IMF thinks the global economy is recovering from the Corona shock, but its momentum has slowed. The main reasons for this are the re-infection of corona 'delta type' in different countries in the second half of this year and the lack of expected vaccination in developing and low-income countries.
The IMF's World Economic Outlook includes projections for 2021 and 2022 on how the economies of its 188 member countries will fare. In the case of some countries including Bangladesh, the projection is on the fiscal year. The IMF released the report during the annual meeting of the IMF and the World Bank.
According to the IMF, inflation in Bangladesh will increase in the current financial year. In the last financial year, the average inflation was about 5.6 percent. This time it will increase to 5.8 percent.
Similarly, in 2022, the growth estimate has been reduced to 6.5 percent growth. The April estimate was 7.5 percent.
