9 Covid-19 deaths, 396 new cases recorded in 24 hours

A total of nine people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am Friday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 27,746 and the death rate stands at 1.77 percent.

At least 396 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 16,64,881, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 2.09 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.55 percent.

A total of 18,980 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours. Besides, at least 523 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,26,891 and the recovery rate at 97.57 percent.

Among the nine deceased, four were men and five were women. Of them, one was between 51-60 and eight were above 60 years old, it added.

Mentionable, the first case of Covid-19 infection was detected in Bangladesh on last March 8, 2020 while the first death occurred on March 18.
