Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Khulna RAB-6, held two hunters along with 18 deer hide hunted from the Sundarbans.
RAB-7 Director Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Mostaq Ahmed said the poachers were detained from Barakpur Bazar area of Bagerhat Sadar upazila on Thursday afternoon on the basis of secret information.
In the drive, a total of 18 deer hide, two mobile phones and Tk 2000 in cash were seized from them.
In the primary interrogation, the hunters admitted that they used to hunt deer from the Sundarbans and collect deer meat including and supply to different parts of the country in the lure of more profit.
The detainees will be handed over to Bagerhat Sadar Police Station.
The arrested were identified as Mohammad Abdul Hakim, 50, of Baharbania area in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat and Mohammad Kamrul Islam, 35, son of Ali Mia Hawladar of Sonatla in Sharankhola upazila of the same district.
On January 23 this year, Bagerhat district police detained two poachers with 19 deer hide from Sharankhola upazila of Bagerhat.
