58th birthday of Sheikh Russell observed in Faridpur

The 58th birthday of Sheikh Russell, as a part of the countrywide program was observed here on Monday (October 18) in a befitting manner.

The day of the program began with placing of floral wreaths at the photo of Shahid Sheikh Russell kept on a dias built at Deputy Commissioner's (DC) office premises.

It was followed by cutting a cake marking the birthday of Sheikh Russell, youngest son of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Later on a discussion meeting chaired by ADC(General) Dipak Roy was held at the conference room of DC.
DC Atul Sarkar was the chief guest while Zilla Parishad Chairman Advocate Md. Shamsul Haque and SP Md. Alimuzzaman were Special guests.

Among others Pourashova mayor Amitav Bose, Awami League president Advocate Subal Saha, Prof. Md. Shahjahan, Ivy Masud, Asma Mukta and Press Club president Kabirul Alom Siddiq took part in the discussion.

Speakers paid rich tribute to Sheikh Russell and condemned the killings of Bangabandhu and his family in 1975.

DC Atul Sarkar said that the all round development under the leadership of Prime Minister of Sheikh Hasina will be a befitting reply to heinous crime committed by the killers of 1975. He observed that the martyrs of 1975 will remain alive through implementation of 'Sonar Bangla', the cherished dream of Bangabandhu.
