6 Covid-19 deaths, 368 new cases  recorded in 24 hours: DGHS

A total of six people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am Wednesday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 27,791 and the death rate stands at 1.77 percent.

At least 368 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 1,566,664, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 1.80 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.43 percent.

A total of 20,393 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours. Besides, at least 481 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 1,529,549 and the recovery rate at 97.63 percent.

Among the six deceased, four were men and two were women.

Of them, two were between 31-40, one between 51-60 and three were above 60 years old, added the release.

Mentionable, the first case of Covid-19 infection was detected in Bangladesh on last March 8, 2020 while the first death occurred on March 18.
