Police have asked to inform the law enforcement agencies without being distracted or provoked by any misleading information, rumors or provocations regarding the recent incidents of communal violence in different districts of the country. And special requests have been made to the citizens of the country to assist the law enforcement agencies in improving the situation.
The request was made in a notification issued by the police headquarters on Wednesday (October 20).
It said additional police were deployed across the country, police patrols were stepped up and intelligence surveillance was stepped up to prevent the law and order situation from deteriorating in the wake of the Cumilla incident. However, despite the utmost vigilance and efforts of the law enforcement agencies, unpleasant incidents have taken place in different parts of the country.
As many as 72 cases have been registered across the country till yesterday and 450 people involved in the incident have been arrested, police said.
Police said the operation to arrest the culprits is continuing and specialized units of the police as well as the police have been involved in unraveling the mystery of the crime. In addition, cyber monitoring has been intensified to curb rumors and provocations through social media.
