Violence in the Union Parishad (UP) elections has escalated, with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda saying the Election Commission was "embarrassed".

The CEC made the remarks in response to a question from reporters at the Election Building in Agargaon on Tuesday (November 2) afternoon.

CEC Nurul Huda also said that the role of political parties in organizing the Union Parishad (UP) elections was not positive.

The CEC said the amount of violence in the ongoing UP elections has increased. We are also witnessing it. What kind of instructions need to be given at the field level is being considered. This will be discussed in detail with the law enforcement agencies on Thursday. There have been many incidents of electoral violence, with embarrassment and concern at work. He said that those who are at the field level will be given instructions after discussing in detail with the commissioners on how to resolve them.

Asked whether the election situation was under the control of the EC, the CEC said, "We have proper control." Those who take part in the election, such as the joint efforts of political parties, voters and candidates, the election is fair. So, no matter what we do here, if there is no tolerance at the field level, it is not possible to control this election.

At this time, election commissioner Rafiqul Islam said, "Our only say is that you have mentioned the issues of the election, the steps which are mainly controlled by the police, administration and field officials of the Election Commission." We want to send a direct message to them through you if such incidents happen later, but the responsibility will remain on them. We will also hold them accountable.
