Law Minister Anisul Haque said there was no chance of taking BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia abroad for treatment as per law. However, he said that the next decision will be taken after discussions.

He made the remarks during a meeting with pro-BNP lawyers at the Secretariat on Tuesday (November 23). Earlier, a group of pro-BNP lawyers handed over a memorandum to the law minister to send Khaleda Zia abroad for treatment.

BNP leaders have been demanding that Begum Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at Ever Care hospital, be taken abroad for better treatment. However, the government has repeatedly said that there is no opportunity to send Khaleda Zia abroad for treatment because she is a convicted felon.

Pro-BNP lawyers called on the law minister to look into the issue of allowing Khaleda Zia to go abroad from a humanitarian point of view. They said the government should consider the issue from a humanitarian point of view and not from a political point of view.

In response, Law Minister Anisul Haque said the government is humane in this regard. The issue is being looked at from a humanitarian point of view.
