Bangladesh -Maldives signed a number of Agreements

A number of agreements were signed between Bangladesh and Maldives on Thursday (December 23).

Bangladesh has given 13 military vehicles to Maldives as gift in presence of the heads of government of the two countries at the signing ceremony.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held bilateral meetings with Maldivian President Ibrahim Salih on various issues. The meeting was held at the Presidential Palace in the Maldives.

Before the meeting, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was formally received by Maldivian President Ibrahim Salih. At this time the head of government of Bangladesh was given a guard of honor.

At the invitation of the President of Maldives, Sheikh Hasina left for Male on a six-day official visit on Wednesday (December 22).

After the meeting, the agreement was signed by the concerned officials of the two countries in presence of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the President of Maldives. The two leaders later issued a joint statement to the media.

The two countries have signed two agreements and two memoranda of understanding, including on health, education, exchange of prisoners and avoidance of double taxation. The agreements are: double tax avoidance, and prisoner exchange.

The MoUs are: Cooperation between Bangladesh and Maldives in the development of healthcare and medical sciences (renewal) and youth and sports in the two countries.

Besides, the agreement between Bangladesh and Maldives for the appointment of specialist doctors has been renewed. .During the visit, Bangladesh handed ove 13 military vehicles to Maldives as a symbol of friendship between the two South Asian countries.
