Five people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and an autorickshaw at Sherpur in Bogura. Another person was injured in the incident. All the dead were auto rickshaw passengers.
The accident took place at Mirzapur on the Bogura-Dhaka highway around 5:15 pm on Wednesday (January 26).
One woman and four men were killed in the accident. However, their names were not known.
Sherpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam said a Hanif Paribahan bus was heading towards Rangpur from Dhaka. At around 5:15 pm, a CNG-powered auto rickshaw collided head-on at Mirzapur Amtala in Sherpur upazila. The autorickshaw was badly twisted and 5 passengers were killed including the driver.
The bus driver and helper fled after the accident. Police detained the bus. The bodies of the deceased were recovered.
