Dhaka: The terror Raju sculpture adjacent area of Dhaka University (DU) turned into a pile of long-standing rubbish at the two-sided gate of Suhrawardy Udyan. The administration has also closed shops in the area. Tanvir Hasan Saikat, a former member of the Dhaka University Central Student Union (Ducsu) and deputy social service secretary of the Bangladesh Chhatra League Central Executive Committee has recently built an open library to clean up the rubbish.

The open library will be inaugurated on Sunday (February 13), Saikat told Barta24.com. There will be three categories of books. Firstly, the source of Bangabandhu's independence and the history of Bangladesh. Secondly, Bangladeshi literature and thirdly, foreign literature.

“I started this as the first chapter of this initiative,” he added. There are also plans to set up more open libraries at a later date. Many have already donated books for the library. Although it may seem like a small initiative at first glance, it is the beginning of something big for me.

"I am constructing an open library at the gate of Suhrawardy Udyan, which is entangled with the memory of the historic Declaration of Independence, adjacent to the TSC, at Dhaka University, replacing the long-standing garbage and dilapidated condition," Saikat wrote on Facebook.

"Anyone, including a university student, can sit here and spend time reading a book over a cup of tea."

"I believe that in addition to our infrastructural development, there is a need for equal progress in thinking, consciousness, thinking and social development. Books are a great tool for developing thoughts. In the developed world, the practice of reading books on the side of the road or in the green shade of a park has been around for a long time, but sadly, it is not in our country. The reason is, of course, we. We never tried to think that way. I think now is the right time for us to think that way. "

He further wrote, "Although it may seem like a small initiative, it is the beginning of something big for me. I dream that one day open libraries will be established in remote areas in every district of the country, Inshallah." This open library will start its journey from next day. You are invited to be friends; I want the blessings of all.
