Dhaka: The search committee has published the list of proposed names for the post of Chief Election Commissioners and Election Commissioners for the formation of the upcoming Election Commission(EC).
The name was published on the cabinet website on Monday (February 14) evening. A total of 322 names, including individuals, groups and organizations are mentioned on the website. The names of these people from different political parties have been given to the search committee regarding the formation of the EC.
Recently, the government made a law for the first time to form an EC. Following this, on February 5, the President directed to form a search committee headed by Supreme Court Justice Obaidul Hasan.
Other members of the search committee are Justice SM Quddus Zaman of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court, Auditor General (CAG) Muslim Chowdhury and Chairman of the Public Service Commission (PSC) Sohrab Hossain, former Election Commissioner Sohul Hossain and fiction writer and psychiatrist Prof. Anwara Syed Haque.
The search committee issued a notification calling for a general name proposal.
