The statements of foreign diplomats in Dhaka about the upcoming elections in Bangladesh should not go beyond the limits. We will warn them if they violate any limits.

Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen told reporters on Tuesday (February 22).

`If you ask diplomats about the election, they may be encouraged,' he told reporters. We would never want any outside interference or such comments in our internal affairs. We will warn them if they violate any limits.

`Since they are our development partners,' the foreign secretary told reporters. They must be interested in Bangladesh. But it is one thing to be interested and another thing to give us teachings. We will warn them if they violate any limits.

Recently, British High Commissioner Robert Chatterton Dickson said that foreign investment could be hampered if the upcoming 2023 national elections are not fair.

Robert Dickson said that all the friends of Bangladesh want to see free, fair and neutral elections. The United Kingdom wants a transparent democracy to be established in Bangladesh. This is what is expected even in elections so that it can take place in a fearless environment.

Masood bin Momen added that such comment was unbecoming from a foreign diplomat. However we would deal such behaviour in future accordingly.
