The Search Committee for the formation of a new Election Commission (EC) has finalized 10 names to recommend for appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and other four Election Commissioners.
The committee did not disclose the names. Now the names will be sent to the Cabinet Division. From there the list of the recommended names will go to the President.
The names were finalized in a meeting at the Supreme Court Judges Lounge in the capital on Tuesday (February 22), 17 days after the Search Panel was formed.
The Search Committee will hold a meeting with the President Abdul Hamid on Thursday. The names in a list will have been sent by this time.
Earlier, the committee held a meeting at the Supreme Court Judges Lounge around 4:30 pm with its chief, the Appellate Division Justice Obaidul Hassan in chair.
