Shah Azizul Haque is a true genius of Kishoreganj Northern region. He was my senior student at Mallikpur Free Primary School. As a child, he combined nature with the classroom to widen his learning space, with shaggy hair; he walked through adolescence and youth. He became a genuine custodian of the fertile ground of intellectual thinking in Kishoreganj, a Mofswal town, with his experience ranging from playing bolt games to catching birds on trees. The influence of his genius in the field of law lit up the institution. He was elected president of Kishoreganj District Lawyers Association 6 times. During his lifetime, he received recognition from the Mazharun-Noor Foundation for his research on social-cultural-historical issues of Kishoreganj.
I have not met Shah Azizul Haque for several years as I was in Dhaka and outside the country for professional reasons. A few years ago, one day, I climbed the stairs of his eye-catching house in Ukil Para of the town to meet him on the second floor. As soon as he saw me, he embraced his teammate's emotions. In just a few minutes, he brought a cup of tea from the nearby kitchen and held it forward with his own hand and said, 'Here is the cinnamon-cardamom tea, I prepared it.'
I am not used to tea!
He looked into my eyes and said, try this special tea. In a moment, I remembered the time when I started my business, it was the year 1991. I went to the Chinese Embassy in Gulshan for a meeting with the Jiangsu textile officials of Nanchang Province regarding their yarn and fabric production. As their entertainment showed reluctance to drink tea, they thought that our establishment did not agree to do business with them.
The next day the Business Attaché of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Y. H. Lee, came to my Motijheel office as a surprise. Mr. Lee wanted to know from my partner company chairman A.R. Khan, what are the reasons for our reluctance to do business with Jiangsu Textile? For example, if people in China show reluctance to accept their hospitality at a meeting, they think that the opponent is not willing to work with them. After being separated from Kishoreganj for a long time, I was instantly impressed by the universal courtesy of this man born in Kishoreganj and his wise eyes.
I was amazed by his excellent speech in an event organized by Kishoreganj News. The speech techniques of famous orators on the stage of Dhaka University, Bangla Academy, Shilpakala Academy and Public Library were instantly surrendered to the sweetness of his voice and the extraordinary art of using words.
Immediately I realized why his brilliant voice is not being pronounced in the famous lecture halls of the capital or in the advanced universities of the country.
The French philosopher René Descartes, the father of philosophy, found himself in deep meditation sitting alone on the ceiling of his hut. And the talented son of Kishoreganj, Shah Azizul Haque, adopted the people and nature of his own land, Kishoreganj, and spontaneously crossed all levels of life philosophy with his innate talent.
He achieved all the merit certificates of higher educational institutions without participating in classrooms like normal students of educational institutions. With his extraordinary personality, he caught the attention of the highest respected personality of the state. In his natural tendency, he established himself at a unique height of intelligence and creativity by knowing people and nature. That is why Shah Azizul Haque often said in his speeches that nature is his school.
One day he called me after reading a piece of my writing “Amar Gerilabella” on the memories of the liberation war published in Kishoreganj News while I was in Kishoreganj during the Covid-19 situation.
A few lines of my article published in the newspaper, "I looked at this young freedom fighter with a dry and dirty face, immediately his eyes and face shone with youth, a Chinese rifle in one hand and my hand in the other, we both ran and sat in the fields of jute fields. He lowered the Petri and slung his rifle over my shoulder. I felt a different heat in my body. Bangabandhu's thunderous voice came from Swadhin Bangla Betar, "This time's struggle, our liberation struggle, this time's struggle is the struggle of freedom." He spoke in his voice. Reading from my writing and his voice encouraged me at the forefront of talking on the phone. I said, "Brother, I have written about my childhood experience." He cut short, 'You will write.'
Today is the 1st death anniversary of Advocate Shah Azizul Haque. My writing is a humble tribute to his departed soul.
