Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina said that the Awami League government has eliminated the curse of ‘monga’ from Rangpur after coming to power. If the Awami League government comes to power again Rangpur will never have famine or monga further.
She said this addressing a public meeting at Zilla School ground in Rangpur at around 4 pm on Wednesday (August 2). Earlier, she appeared on stage around 3:30 pm. At that time, the leaders and workers welcomed her with robust slogans. At the beginning of the public meeting, Sheikh Hasina inaugurated 27 development projects worth around Tk. 1,240 crore and laid the foundation stone of five more projects.
The Prime Minister said that the Awami League government has cometo power and eliminated the monga in Rangpur. The Awami League government has improved electricity, gas lines, roads along with railway lines. Mother and sisters are receiving treatment at home.
She said, we are giving houses to landless people all over the country. There will be no landless anywhere in Rangpur division. The Awami League government will support them.
The Prime Minister said that people can now vote peacefully. I have arranged transparent ballot boxes. We want people to vote peacefully.
Sheikh Hasina said, BNP looted after coming to power. What did they do without looting power? They have not done anything for the development of the country. The country has developed only by voting on boat symbols.
Regarding the implementation of the Teesta Master Plan, the Prime Minister said, we have excavated various rivers. We built roads and bridges. I will also implement the Teesta Master Plan.
Apart from this, the Prime Minister announced the launching of Rangpur Sugar Mill, Medical University in Rangpur Division and adoption of agricultural products preservation system.

The Prime Minister's public meeting started at 12 noon on Wednesday (August 2) with the performance of the National Anthem. At the end of the National Anthem, recitations from the Holy Quran and Gita were performed.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached Rangpur at 1:13 a.m. to attend the rally. The helicopter carrying her landed at the Rangpur cantonment helipad. From there she went to the circuit house. After the meeting with the local government officials, she joined the public meeting.
Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, presidium member of Awami League, presidium member and mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Joint general secretary and Information minister Dr. Hashan Mahmud, Organizing Secretary SM Kamal Hossain and Sujit Roy Nandi also addressed the meeting.
