BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's release period has been extended by another six months. Her sentence has been suspended and the release period has been extended in the previous two conditions in the executive order.

A notification has been issued in this regard from the Division of Security Services of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Security Service Division Joint Secretary (Prisoner Division) Md. Ziaul Haque confirmed the issue of notification.

Earlier on September 10, Khaleda Zia's sentence was suspended and the file was sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs with a positive opinion on extending the release period for another 6 months. On that day, Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anisul Haque informed the journalists at the Secretariat.

According to the notification, as before, Khaleda Zia will receive treatment from Gulshan's residence Firoza and during this time she will not be able to go outside the country. Her release was extended earlier under these two conditions.

With this, the release period of Khaleda Zia, who was imprisoned for the eighth time, was extended. Khaleda Zia's sentence will be suspended for the 7th time and the period of release will end on September 24.

Earlier, Khaleda Zia's family appealed to the Home Minister for her release and permission to go abroad for better treatment.

78-year-old former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is suffering from various diseases including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung, heart and eye problems.

Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital since August 9.

Earlier, Khaleda Zia was taken to Evercare Hospital on June 10 around 3:30 pm due to her deteriorating physical condition.

Khaleda Zia was admitted to the capital's Evercare Hospital under cardiologist Professor Shahabuddin Talukdar with chest pain late on June 10 last year. After a quick angiogram, a ring was placed in her heart. Two heart blocks still exist.

Earlier on February 27, she went to Evercare Hospital for a health check-up. On August 22 last year, she also went to the hospital for a health check-up. After a week on August 28, when she was taken to the hospital again, she was admitted on the advice of doctors. Khaleda Zia returned home on August 31 after staying in the hospital for two days.

Khaleda Zia went to jail in February 2018 after being convicted in a corruption case. After the start of the corona pandemic in the country, the government granted her 'temporary release' on March 25, 2020, in view of the family's request. After this, the period of suspension of his sentence was extended several times.
