US Ambassador to Dhaka Peter Haas has gone to India.
He left Dhaka for Mumbai from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (Flight No. UK-184) on Friday (December 22) at 12:30 PM. His wife is also on the trip.
According to diplomatic protocol, an ambassador informs the host country when he is out of the country on duty. However, it is not yet confirmed whether Peter Haas has informed the Bangladesh government or not.
According to diplomatic sources, Peter Haas met Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen at Rashtriya Guest House Padma on Thursday afternoon. Apart from him, British High Commissioner Sarah Cook appointed in Dhaka held a separate meeting.
Earlier, Peter Haas visited Sri Lanka on November 16. Later, on November 27, the US ambassador returned to Bangladesh by Sri Lankan Airlines.
Peter Haas's emigration has been discussed many times before. The political parties are keeping an eye on his movements in view of the elections.
