Ban on campaigning from 5th to 9th January

The Ministry of Home Affairs has banned all campaigns and even processions from January 5 to January 9 in order to keep the polling environment peaceful.

In light of the directives of the Election Commission (EC), the Public Security Division of the Ministry has issued a circular in this regard. The concerned have been asked to take necessary measures.

It states that, in accordance with Article 78 of the Representation of the People Order, 1972, effective measures against calling, holding or participating in any public meeting and organizing or participating in any procession or procession within forty-eight hours before the commencement of polling in any constituency and forty-eight hours after the close of polling to be accepted.

Voting will be held on January 7 from 8 am. As such, the ban will be effective from 8 am on January 5 to 8 am on January 9.

Meanwhile, instructions have been given in the circular that no candidate can set up an election camp within 400 yards of the polling station.

As per the schedule announced by the EC, the campaigning is now underway after the symbols of the candidates participating in the election have been released which will end on January 5. Voting will be held from 8 am to 4 pm on January 7.
