The involvement of the nine people arrested by RAB in the Mohanganj Express train fire incident in the capital was not found. They were arrested and sent to court in the case of robbery preparation. Later the court sent them to jail.
On Thursday (December 21) night, a team of RAB-1 arrested the 9 persons by raiding the airport railway station and its surroundings.
Mohanganj Express train was set on fire in the airport station area of Dhaka last Tuesday morning. Four people including mother and child died.
Those arrested by RAB in this incident are Al Amin (38), Hriday Mia (28), Hanif Hossain (40), Md. Yasin (20), Moniruzzaman alias Suman Sardar (22), Md. Ruman (20), Md. Sajib (18), Md. Nirab (18) and Md. Hridoy (18).
RAB said they were detained as suspects in the Mohanganj Express train arson incident at Tejgaon station. A case of robbery preparation was registered against the arrested yesterday morning and later sent to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court. After the hearing, the court ordered all 9 people to Dhaka Central Jail.
Deputy Director of RAB-1 Superintendent of Police Zahidur Rahman told reporters that they have been questioned whether they are involved in the incident or whether they know those who set the fire or not. But their involvement was not found, nor was there any information about the arsonists.
Apart from this, their appearance was not found to be similar to the people in the collected footage.
