RAB-9 has strengthened overall security and surveillance in Sylhet to protect the lives and property of train passengers and prevent arson attacks on railways.
RAB-9 Commander Wing Commander Md. Mominul Haque gave this information in a press briefing at Sylhet railway station at 9:30 pm on Friday (December 22).
At the time, he said that in recent times, there have been incidents like cutting railway lines and setting fire to trains in different parts of the country. In such a situation intelligence surveillance has been strengthened in Sylhet and other districts of Sylhet division and railway stations of Brahmanbaria district to prevent arson attacks of trains and ensure overall safety.
Besides, robust patrol is being operated regularly in railway stations. Check post activities are being conducted continuously at important points of stations under RAB-9 so that arsonists and miscreants cannot carry any inflammable materials, sabotage and explosives or illegal goods (drugs, firearms) etc.
He also said that as part of the safety of train passengers, RAB-9 bomb disposal units are conducting sweeping operations at various times in railway stations and in different trains. Apart from this intelligence surveillance by RAB-9 in white uniform has been increased with great vigilance at the important points of the stations to control any kind of sabotage and untoward situation. Also, RAB-9 is working to ensure the safety of train journeys by coordinating and sharing information with various law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies.
He said that RAB-9 is determined to strengthen security and take strict legal action against any violence or arson attacks to prevent the safety of train passengers and arson attacks of railway lines.
