Leaders of Mirpur Upazila Awami League have announced that they will not support Hasanul Haque Inu, the candidate of the 14-party alliance in Kushtia-2 (Mirpur-Bheramara) and the president of JSD Central Committee.
Instead of Inu's boat symbol; they announced their support to Kamrul Arefin (truck symbol) who was not nominated by Awami League.
Kushtia-2 Constituency consists of Mirpur and Bheramara upazilas. Independent candidate Kamrul Arefin is the general secretary of Mirpur Upazila Awami League. He is the recently resigned Chairman of Upazila Parishad. He also received a medal from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the best upazila chairman in the country.
The leaders announced their support in a press conference at the Mirpur Upazila Awami League party office on Tuesday (December 26) afternoon.
Acting Chairman of Mirpur Upazila Parishad, Chairman and members of 11 Union Parishads (UP) and councilors of the municipality were present in the press conference. At that time, they made various allegations against JSD workers-supporters and Hasanul Haque Inu. They said that they will stay together in the field.
Upazila Awami League President Abdul Halim said Hasanul Haque was here as a candidate of 14 parties for 15 years. However, Kamrul Arefin is getting a massive response in the upcoming elections. They are united. They are working with everyone in the team to make Kamarul a winner.
At that time, Mirpur Upazila Union Chairman Forum President, Malihad UP Chairman and Union Awami League President Akram Hossain said that currently their member of Parliament does not keep any contact. He does not keep in touch with anyone from Awami League. There has been no development in this area in 15 years. So Mirpur Upazila Awami League is determined to make Kamrul Arefin win.
Akram Hossain also said, "11 out of 13 chairmen of our Mirpur Upazila Chairman's Forum are here." Together with the 11 chairman, we will return home with the victory of Kamrul Arefin.
Acting Chairman of Mirpur Upazila Parishad and Organizing Secretary of Mirpur Upazila Awami League Abul Kasem Zoardar, Women Vice Chairman Morjina Khatun were also present in the press conference; Chithalia UP Chairman and Union Awami League President Enamul Haque, Bahalbaria UP Chairman Saidur Rahman, Talbaria UP Chairman Abdul Hannan, Baruipara Union Parishad Chairman Shafiqul Islam Montu among others present.
