Directives for closure of Primary and Secondary schools due to severe winter

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has issued new instructions for the closure of secondary-level schools due to the severity of winter.

In a separate directive, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has ordered the closure of primary schools due to the severity of winter.

This information was given in a notification signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Kabir Uddin on Tuesday.

According to both notifications, educational institutions can be closed considering the situation if the temperature falls below 10 degrees.

This instruction was given in a letter signed by Assistant Director (Secondary-2) SM Ziaul Haider Henry of the Directorate on Tuesday (January 16).

It is said in the letter that severe cold waves are flowing in different districts of the country. It is known that the normal activities of education of students are being disrupted due to the present cold weather.

In this case, in all the districts where the maximum temperature will fall below 10 degrees Celsius (as per the weather forecast of the concerned Meteorological Office), the Regional Deputy Directors in consultation with the District Education Officers of those districts will provide instructions to keep close the secondary level educational institutions (until the maximum temperature is 10 degrees Celsius or above).
