Chance of thundershower in 6 divisions, severe cold will increase

The winter has been going on since the beginning of the month Magh. At the same time, the vast towns of the country are shivering in the cold wind. The sun has not been visible for quite some time. In the meantime, the Meteorological Department has informed us with bad news that in the next 24 hours there may be rain with thunder in 6 divisions including Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal. Such a situation may prevail throughout the month of January.

This information has been reported in the weather forecast for the next three days (72 hours) from 6 pm on Wednesday (January 17).

The forecast said that in the next 24 hours in many places of Khulna and Barishal divisions; Some places in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions and two places in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions may experience rain or thundershowers. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky.

However, moderate to dense fog may fall over the country from night to morning and it may continue till afternoon at some places. Besides, air traffic, inland waterway transport and road communication may be temporarily disrupted due to fog.

Apart from this, mild cold current may flow over Pabna, Chuadanga, Barishal and Moulvibazar districts. During this time, the night temperature may increase by 1-2 degrees Celsius and the day temperature may increase slightly across the country. Also due to fog, cold conditions may prevail in some parts of the country during the day.

According to the Meteorological Office, clouds will form in the central and southern parts of the country and there will be rain, which will clear the fog. There is a possibility of rain in some districts of Rajshahi division besides Dhaka and southern region. Rain is possible through Thursday night or early Friday morning.

The Department of Meteorology also informed that the extension of the sub-continental high pressure belt has extended to West Bengal and the adjoining northwestern part of Bangladesh. Along with this, the normal low pressure of the season is staying in South Bay of Bengal. In this condition, the wind speed was 8-12 km per hour from North or North-West direction in Dhaka on Wednesday. Besides, the relative humidity of the air in the capital was 96 percent at 6 am.

Besides, the night temperature may decrease slightly in the next 5 days.
