In Padma sea-boat collision 9 including three magistrates injured, one killed

One person was killed in a collision between two sea-boats in Padma river in Shariatpur’s Bhedarganj upazila. In this incident, 9 people including 3 magistrates were injured on their way back after performing election duty. They were returning to office by boat after performing election duties in Kachikanta Union Parishad (UP) of Bhederganj Upazila. The accident happened on Saturday (March 9) around 8:30 pm. The injured were rescued and taken to hospital for treatment.

Moktar (15), who died in the accident, is the son of Bachchu Mia of Ward No. 7 of North Tarabunia Union of Sakhipur Police Station of Bhederganj Upazila.

Shariatpur Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nizamuddin Ahmed confirmed this information and said that elections were held in Bara Kandi of Jazira upazila and Kachikanta union of Bhedarganj upazila on Saturday. After performing the duties of the election, the district administration employees including the executive magistrate were coming from the north side of Kanchikata to the south side. At that time, a sea boat came from the south side in the opposite direction and rammed the sea boat carrying our officers and employees. One person was killed in this. 9 people including 3 magistrates were injured.

The injured 3 executive magistrates are – Executive Magistrate Basit Sattar, Abdullah Al Mamun and AC (Land) Enamul Hafiz Nadeem of Bhedarganj Upazila. Other employees of the district administration are - Office Assistant Debabrata Pal and Humayun Kabir.
