The court granted a 4-day remand to Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajol, the secretary candidate of the pro-BNP Blue Panel, in connection with the violence during the counting of votes in the Supreme Court Bar Association elections.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nurul Huda Chowdhury's court granted the remand on Sunday (March 10) afternoon.

Earlier, the investigating officer of the case, DB Police Inspector Abul Kalam Azad, applied for 7 day remands. Instead, the court granted a 4-day remand.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajol from his chamber at Topkhana Road, Paltan in the capital on Saturday (March 9) evening.

A case of attempted murder has been filed in Shahbagh Police Station against 20 lawyers, including independent secretary candidate Nahid Sultana Juthi and BNP-backed secretary candidate Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajal, in connection with the beating and vandalism in the Supreme Court Lawyers Association elections.

On March 8, the case was filed by the injured Assistant Attorney General Md. Saifur Rahman Siddiqui (Saif).

On Saturday, the court granted three-day remand to five lawyers namely Kazi Bashir Ahmed, Tushar, Tariqul, Enamul Haque Sumon and Barrister Osman Chowdhury.
