48th death anniversary of Pollikabi observed in Faridpur

The 48th death anniversary of Pollikabi Jasimuddin was observed this morning in a befitting manner here at the ancestral home of the poet in village Gobindapur in the suburb of Faridpur town.

An elaborate program was chalked out jointly by District Administration and Jasim Foundation at the grave site of the poet. The program included placing of floral wreaths, Doa Mahfil and discussion meeting. District Administration, Jasim Foundation, Muktijoddhya Sangsad, Police Administration, Shilpakala Academy and Ansaruddin High school placed floral wreaths at grave of the poet.

It was followed by a discussion meeting where the life and works of the poet was discussed elaborately. The discussion meeting chaired by ADC (Gen) Yasin Kabir was participated by DC Md. Qamrul Ahsan Talukdar PAA as the chief guest, Police Super Md. Morshed Alam PPM as the special guest. Besides, Additional Police Super Sailendra Kumar Chakma, Professor Md. Shahjahan and Professor M.A. Samad.

Discussants stressed the need for popularizing the poetical works of Jasimuddin among the masses. DC Qamrul in his speech emphasized that the infrastructure which have been built surrounding the poet’s house including the Jasim museum shall have to be properly utilized particularly with research on the poet. DC Qamrul assured that the district administration would extend all kinds of cooperation in research work on Jasimuddin.
