‘India could not set up a base in Bangladesh because of Bangabandhu’

Noting that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman not only gave the state, he also showed the path of how Bangladesh will run, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, India could not set up a base in independent Bangladesh because of Bangabandhu.

He said these things at the 'Independence Award-2024' award ceremony at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Monday (March 25).

Commenting that Awami League has brought back the lost glory for the purpose of the liberation war, the Prime Minister said that the Awami League has been able to bring back the lost glory of the liberation war after coming to power.

At this time, Sheikh Hasina said about the increase in the price of goods in the market, due to the corona pandemic and Ukraine-Russia war, the price inflation has increased all over the world. However, so that the people of our country do not face any problem, we are distributing food free of cost in this month of Ramadan. We skipped the Iftar party. Starting from our leaders and workers, we have called upon every organization to distribute Iftar among common people instead of holding Iftar parties. Having an iftar party is not a big thing, giving to people is a big thing. This is how we stand by people.

The head of government said, we are trying to change the fate of the people of the country. Not a single person of this Bangladesh will remain landless. There will be no homeless. Any one will not remain unaddressed. We have taken the arrangement of lighting in every room. We have increased the rate of education. We have brought down the poverty rate. We have ensured food security by increasing production. We have arranged Medicare for all.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presented the country's highest state civilian award 'Independence Day Award-2024' to 10 dignitaries in recognition of their glorious and successful contributions at the national level.

This year the recipients of the Award are - Kazi Abdus Sattar in freedom and liberation war, valiant freedom fighter Flight Sergeant Md. Fazlul Haque (posthumous) and valiant freedom fighter Shaheed Abu Naeem Najib Uddin Khan (Khurram) (posthumous), Dr. Mubarak Ahmed Khan in Science and Technology, Dr. Harishankar Das in medicine, Mohammad Rafiquzzaman in culture, Feroza Khatun in sports, Aranya Chiran in society or public service, valiant freedom fighter Professor Dr. Mullah Obaidullah Baki and SM Abraham Lincoln.
