Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that no hydropower import agreement will be signed during this visit of the King of Bhutan.

He said this to reporters after a meeting with the King of Bhutan at Hotel Intercontinental on Monday (March 25) afternoon.

The foreign minister said, we want to import hydropower from Bhutan. We have already signed an agreement to import hydropower from Nepal and India has also helped us. India will also assist us in importing from Bhutan.

However, this time the agreement is not being signed, he said, the agreement is not being signed with Bhutan for the import of hydropower. There is still some work to be done. But we hope, it will be done very soon.

Hasan Mahmud said, I have requested to rejoin Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal (BBIN) to increase communication. I discussed their rejoining BBIN to increase people-to-people contact. The King of Bhutan listened to the matter seriously.
