Beating 11 dogs to death, the first animal killing case in Feni court

Two mother dogs with nine cubs were publicly beaten to death on Shanti Company road in Feni town. A case has been filed in the Magistrate Court of Feni against 3 people in this incident. This is the first case of animal killing in Feni district, said the plaintiff's lawyer Sofiqul Islam Piyas.

On Monday (April 1), the director of Animal Aid Feni, Enam Hossain, filed the case as a plaintiff in the Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court, accusing Jasim Uddin of the city's Shanti Company area and his two associates.

Taking cognizance of the case Judge Muhammad Ashiqur Rahman, ordered Feni Sadar Upazila Animal Husbandry Officer to submit an investigation report within the next 30 days.

Advocate Sofiqul Islam Piyas, the plaintiff's lawyer in the case, said that this is the first case in Feni regarding the killing of animals. Taking cognizance of the case, the court directed the upazila animal husbandry officer to submit the investigation report within 30 days. Only then will the next activity begin.

Enam Hossain, the plaintiff in the case, said that on February 4, Jasim Uddin, son of Kalamiya of Shanti Company Road, Feni town and his two accomplices publicly beat two mother dogs and 9 puppies to death without any reason. The accused violated the Animal Welfare Act by killing 11 dogs in public without permission. If they are not punished, others will be encouraged to kill animals.

He said that animals also have a role in maintaining the balance of nature and environment. Animal Aid is working for the protection and welfare of animals in Feni.

Those concerned said that there are strict laws to protect all kinds of animals. It is a punishable offense to kill any animal without the permission of the concerned authorities. Proper enforcement of laws to prevent such crimes will reduce such crimes in the society.
