In 1996, he passed his master's degree from the Fine Arts Department of Dhaka University. He was the first among the Bom community to receive a degree from Dhaka University. Although he had the opportunity to study English literature in two Universities of the country, he enrolled in Dhaka University because he wanted to study painting. At that time, Santu Larma took charge of Nathan Bom's education due to his joining Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP), the student body of Santu’s Parbatya Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS).

The Organizational Life of Nathan Bom

Nathan Bom was involved in Pahari Chhatra Parishad during his student life. He was also an active member of the Dhaka Metropolitan Branch and Central Committee of Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP), the student organization of Chittagong Hill Tracts Janahati Samiti (JSS). Later he joined the Jana Sanghati Samiti.

In 2008, Nathan Bom founded an NGO called Kuki-Chin National Development Organization (KNDO) in Eden neighborhood of Ruma. KND also carried out philanthropic activities including greening of vast forest areas in the hills, conservation of animals and birds and natural beauty. Office of the NGO in Ruma Edenpara. Then he formed the organization, initially the name of the organization was Kuki-Chin National Volunteers. This non-political organization took the form of a political organization after the creation of an armed wing in 2017. Later the name of the organization was also changed from Kuki-Chin National Development Organization (KNDO) to Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF). However, from May 2022, their activities came to light.

Nathan Bom formed the armed organization with some members of the Bom ethnic group originally from Santu Larma's JSS. That is why it is also known as Bom Army. However, KNF claims that they represent six ethnic groups of Rangamati and Bandarban regions. They are Bom, Pankhwaa, Lusai, Khiang, Mro and Khumi. Baghaichhari, Barkal, Jurachhari and Bilaichhari of Rangamati inhabited by these six castes and Rowangchhari, Ruma, Thanchi, Lama and Alikadam of Bandarban will be formed into a separate state.

In 1997, after the hill peace agreement, MN Larma built a sculpture at Larma Square in Mahajanpara area of Khagrachari along with fellow artist Nimmi Dewan. At that time he was associated with Hill Artist Group. The bust of Larma by Nathans was inaugurated in 2000. After that his fame as an artist increased. He started writing.

In 2015, he practiced art in art centers and art schools in Europe. He obtained diplomas with certificates from several art institutes including the Netherlands. He was also awarded in art contests organized by various European countries when he developed relationships with painters from different countries of the world.

Nathan Bom is the first historian and ethnographer of the Bom people.

In 2002, Bom founded the literary organization 'Bam Literature Forum' (BLF) for the preservation and practice of the literature of the Bom community. He published a book called 'The Bomjou' on the identity of Kuki-Chinese ethnic groups.
