Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over 18,566 plots of land and houses to the beneficiaries of Asharyan-2 project in a virtual connection at 11 am on Tuesday (June 11) to involve the underprivileged people of the society in the mainstream of development.
According to project sources, on this day, documents of land and houses will be handed over to 18 thousand 566 landless-homeless families in the 2nd phase of the 5th phase under Asharyan-2 project to involve the underprivileged people of the society in the mainstream of development. Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will conduct the virtual inauguration of the program through video conference from Ganabhaban.
In this video conference, the Prime Minister will directly connect with 3 upazilas of Kaliganj in Lalmonirhat district, Eidgaon in Cox's Bazar district and Char Fashion in Bhola district. The 'Sheikh Hasina model' of inclusive development in poverty alleviation has been hailed around the world as a means of transforming the fortunes of landless and homeless people.
On this day Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over 18566 single houses with land. Earlier, 43 lakh 40 thousand landless-homeless people have been rehabilitated so far by providing houses through Asrayan scheme and other activities. Only 29 lakh 10 thousand 265 people have been resettled through the Asryan project.
Dhaka, Gopalganj, Shariatpur, Faridpur, Netrakona, Cox's Bazar, Chattogram, Chandpur, Lakhmipur, Noakhali, Cumilla, Feni, Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Sirajganj, Bogura, Satkhira, Jashore, Khulna, Narail, Bagerhat, Barguna, Barishal, Habiganj also. She will declare a total of 70 upazilas including all the upazilas of Sunamganj-district landless and homeless. As such, a total of 58 districts and 464 upazilas including previously declared districts and upazilas will be declared as landless and homeless.
So far, 13 lakh 30 thousand 60 displaced people have received houses by the special program of Mujib year, where the number of houses is 2 lakh 66 thousand 12. For this reason, 6 thousand 945 acres of Khas land has been recovered across the country. The market value of which is about 3 thousand 883 crores
Also, 371.10 acres have been purchased for shelter projects across the country. The price of which is 255 crores and 99 lakhs. 15 thousand 545 people have been resettled in these lands.
It is to be noted that the rehabilitation program of the landless, homeless, destitute people started in Charporagachha village of Ramgati upazila of Lakhmipur district on February 20, 1972 by the hand of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Following the footsteps of the Father of the Nation, his rightful successor Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is realizing his unfinished dream.
