Smuggler arrested with jewelry worth Tk. 14 lakh in Satkhira

BGB has arrested a smuggler named Ashraful Ghazi (35) along with 9 kg 550 grams of silver jewelry while being smuggled from India to the country. The price of which is Tk. 14 lakh 3 thousand 850.

This information was informed in a press release sent by Satkhira 33 Battalion headquarters of BGB on Friday (02 August) night.

It is said that a shipment of silver jewelry from India will come to Bangladesh illegally through the Baliadanga area of Satkhira. Naib Subedar of Jhowdanga Special Camp said on Friday afternoon based on intelligence information. A team of BGB under the leadership of Naib Subedar Md. Kamruzzaman took a position there. At that time, the raiding team challenged Ashraful Ghazi (35), son of deceased Asir Ghazi of Kakdanga village in Kalaroa, who came through that area on a motorcycle. Later, the man's motorcycle was searched and 9 kg 550 gram silver jewelry was recovered.

In this regard, a case has been registered at the Kalaroa police station and the seized silver jewelry has been submitted to the Satkhira treasury office.
