The agitating students left the road after nearly 4 hours of protest at Mirpur No. 10 Gole Chattar of the capital in protest of the deaths and mass arrests and 9-point demands due to the violence caused by the quota reform movement.
On Saturday (August 3) at 12:30 noon, the protestors gathered at Gole Chattar No. 10 and started the protest. Later at 4:30 pm they announced the next program and slowly left the place.
At this time, the vehicles traveling through Mirpur 10 travel through Mirpur 2. At 4:50 p.m., traffic was normalized after the protest.
Due to the protest, the police took a cautious position on the west side of Mirpur No. 10. Later, when the protest started, at 1.30 pm, the DC, ADC, OC and other police officers of Mirpur Model Police Station called and spoke to the students. They asked the agitators to stand peacefully. The protestors asked the students to be careful that no outsider could come and do any kind of violence.
After two o'clock in the afternoon, the number of protesters increased. At that time it turned into a huge crowd. Students of different colleges joined the protest in separate groups. Many parents also came with their children for safety reasons.
Police and BGB members stood their ground throughout the protest. At the beginning of Mirpur 10, the leaders and activists of Awami League and its organizations took a stand, later they moved away.
Last Friday (August 2) night, the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement announced a protest march across the country on Saturday against the attacks on the peaceful movement of students and citizens, protesting murder and 9-point demands. They called upon the masses to organize themselves in streets and alleys and make the program a success.
