Considering the overall situation surrounding the non-cooperation program called by the anti-discrimination student movement, BGMEA has asked all garment factories in the country to remain closed.
Such instructions have been given in a circular signed by BGMEA, an association of garment factory owners, on Sunday (August 4).
According to the notice, in consideration of the situation, the owners have been requested to close all the garment factories across the country, considering the overall safety of the workers and siblings, until further notice.
Earlier, a three-day general holiday was announced for government and autonomous institutions from Monday to Wednesday (August 5-7) on the instructions issued by the Ministry of Public Administration in the afternoon. In addition, to avoid violence, the Ministry of Home Affairs has informed that the curfew will be enforced for an indefinite period from 6 pm on Sunday.
According to the instructions given in this regard, evening law has been enforced in all divisional headquarters, city corporations, pourashavas, industrial areas, district headquarters and upazila headquarters from 6 pm on Sunday until further notice.
