Regent's Shahed was released on bail in 96 cases

Chairman of Regent Hospital Limited Mohammad Sahed, accused in 96 cases including cases of corruption and corona certificate forgery, got bail and came out of jail. He was released from Dhaka Central Jail on Wednesday (September 4) night.

According to the responsible sources of Dhaka Central Jail, there were a total of 96 cases against Sahed detained in Dhaka Central Jail. He is a convicted accused in five of these cases. He was released on bail in all the cases.

It is also known that Sahed got bail in a weapons case of Uttara West police station on Wednesday. When the copy of the order reached the jail, he was released from the central jail after getting no objection from all the intelligence agencies.

On July 15, 2020, RAB arrested Shahed from Satkhira. After that, various allegations of fraud and irregularities started to surface in his name. Later, one after another cases were filed against Sahed and his associates in different parts of the country including Dhaka.

ACC sent a notice to Shahed on November 5, 2020, while he was in jail, seeking an account of his assets. The notice asked him to submit the statement of assets within 21 working days. As he did not submit the statement of assets within the stipulated time, an additional 15 working days was given. He did not submit it even after witnessing.

After that, on March 1, 2021, ACC Deputy Director Farid Ahmed Patwari filed a case in ACC's Dhaka District Integrated Office-1 for not giving account of assets and illegally acquiring assets of Tk. 1 crore 69 lakh.

The ACC submitted the charge sheet to the court on February 2 last year. After that, on July 17 of last year, the court ordered the trial to be started against Sahed. During the trial of the case, the court heard the testimony of 10 people.

Several cases were filed against Sahed on various charges. A court sentenced him to life imprisonment on September 28, 2020 in a case under the Arms Act.
