Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Mohammad Abdur Rauf said that Tk. 20 lakh 50 thousand was spent for launching Kazipara Metrostation

He said this in a press conference called at the Iskaton Garden head office of DMTCL on Thursday (September 19) at noon.

Mohammad Abdur Rauf said that the damaged Kazipara Metrorail station will be operational from September 20. Efforts have been made to reopen the damaged Mirpur-10 metro rail station as soon as possible. Necessary activities are in process.

Mohammad Abdur Rauf said the reason for the closure of the Metrorail from Agargaon to Motijheel on September 18 was that the elastomeric bearing pad between a pillar and the viaduct above it was displaced between Vijay Sarani and Farmgate stations.

DMTCL managing director said that a 7-member technical committee has been formed to investigate the cause of technical errors and take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future. The committee will submit a report with necessary recommendations within 05 working days.

He also said that the train service is starting on Friday from September 20. On this day, the metro trains will run commercially on Uttara to Motijheel route from 3.30 pm to 9 pm and from Motijheel to Uttara North route from 3.50 pm to 9.40 pm with 12 minutes headway (time between two trains).

Earlier, on September 18, 2024, due to a technical fault, train movement from Agargaon to Motijheel section was temporarily stopped from 9:40 AM for the safety of passengers. Metro train movement resumed normal from 8:25 pm after correcting the technical fault in due process.
