"Election road map when political parties come to a consensus"

If the political parties reach a consensus on the proposal of the Reform Commission, then the electoral road map will come, said Shafiqul Alam , the press secretary of the Chief Adviser of the interim government.

Special Assistant to Chief Adviser Mahfuz Alam and Press Secretary Safiqul Alam held a press conference on the meeting at Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Saturday (October 5) night.

When asked about the discussion of the political parties on the electoral roadmap, Shafiqul Alam said that the discussion that is going on regarding the electoral roadmap is that six commissions have been formed; five of them have been completed. The rest will be announced in two days.

The press secretary said that the six commissions will talk to various political parties and stakeholders of Bangladesh within their three-month timeline. Then give a report within three months. The advisory council will again talk to political parties, people from different levels of society about the reports. Then there will be a minimum consensus among the political parties on the reform.

Safiqul Alam said, the timeline will depend on the consensus because it remains to be seen how much reform will be needed. At the same time, the chief adviser said that the election work will go ahead; the preparations for the election, the work of forming the election commission will go ahead because when the consensus is reached about the reform, so that the election can be given very quickly.

He said, we cannot tell the time now. I can clearly see how the procedure will go.
