Oil shop fire from agarbati, 4 received burn injuries

4 persons were burnt in fire at an oil shop in Noakhali's Subarnachar while burning agarbatis. The burn victims have been referred to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital.

The incident took place in Thanarhat market of North Wapda Union of the upazila on Thursday (October 17) evening. Meanwhile, four CNG and one motorcycle were damaged in the fire.

Son of Abdul Haque of Durganagar village of Rajganj union of Begumganj upazila Sajib (36), son of Azim of Hajipur village of Chaumuhani municipality, Ripon (32), Salauddin (50), son of deceased Soleman of Char Boishakhi village of Char Wapda Union of Subarnachar Upazila and Moinuddin, son of Abdur Shaheed received burn injuries.

According to local sources, the oil drum of the neighboring octane shop caught fire while lighting the evening lamp in the saloon shop at around 6 pm. At that time, an oil tanker that came to the shop to supply oil, four CNG trucks and a motorcycle that came to collect oil caught fire. As a result, four people, including the shop employee, CNG driver and oil truck helper, were burnt on the spot.

The condition of two of them is critical. Locals immediately rescued them and brought them to Noakhali General Hospital with 250 beds. Then from there they were referred to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital.

Charjabbar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shaheen Mia said four people were burnt in the fire. Then two people were referred to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital. The rest are under treatment at Sadar Hospital.
