Publishers interested in organizing a book fair on the theme of mass uprising

The Bangladesh Publishers Association has expressed its interest in organizing the upcoming book fair on the theme of mass uprising in July-August.

They expressed this interest in a courtesy call on Bangla Academy Director General Dr. Mohammad Azam on Sunday (October 27).

The association submitted 6 proposals in writing. Among them are organizing the 'Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025' on the theme of mass uprising in July-August;

Including at least one publisher representative in all subcommittees for organizing the book fair; real publishing houses should be allotted stalls. Affiliated companies should be excluded; extending the fair time till 10 pm and arranging for a special metro rail trip to be started till 10.30 pm on the occasion of the fair; not allocating stalls to any publishing house on the Bangla Academy premises. Not allocating stalls to any other type of organization except publishing houses in Suhrawardy Udyan; blacklisting of looters and corrupt publishing houses identified in the past years and taking appropriate action, etc.

Among the publishers participating in this meeting as representatives of the Bangladesh Creative Publishers Association were, the organization's advisor Arifur Rahman Naim (Aitihya), President Iqbal Hossain Sanu (Lavani), General Secretary Md. Gafur Hossain (Rhythm Publishing), Abul Bashar Firoz (Dhræbpat), Md. Zahir Deepti (Iti Publishing), Md. Ainul Hossain (AH Development Publishing), Shah Al Mamun (Manon Publishing), Md. Mizanur Rahman (Shobha Publishing), Mashfiq Ullah Tanmoy (Student Ways), Monir Hossain Pintu (Anyadhara), Abu Bakar Siddique Raju (Sware-A), Razzak Rubel (Branthik).

The discussion raised the importance of the work of Bangla Academy and publishers in building a new Bangladesh and establishing a knowledge-based society, and the issue of mutual cooperation. ‘Bangla Academy’ and ‘Bangladesh Creative Publishers Association’ expressed their mutual expectations and consensus on joint initiatives to organize a successful book fair by uniting.
