Special cell formed to preserve history of student-people uprising

The interim government has formed a 'special cell' to preserve the history of the student-people uprising in July-August, finalize the complete list of martyrs and injured, treat the injured and provide support to their families.

An order was issued by the Cabinet Division on Sunday (October 27) to form this special cell. The head of this 10-member cell is an additional secretary/joint secretary-level officer.

The office order said that the 'special cell related to mass uprising' was formed under the Health Services Division as per the decision of the Advisory Council held on October 17 to preserve the history of the student-mass uprising in July-August, finalize the complete list of martyrs and injured, treat the injured and provide support to their families.

The cell will have four officers at the level of Deputy Secretary/Senior Assistant Secretary, two doctors and expert representatives, student representatives Abdullah Salehin Ayan and Synthia Zahin Ayesha, and a representative from the PID of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting as members.

The special cell will conduct necessary activities to complete the list of martyrs of the July-August mass uprising and in this regard, it will take steps to enroll after considering the list obtained from other sources in line with the list collected by the Ministry of Health.

The special cell will play an proactive role in collecting new information from all possible sources to finalize the list of martyrs and, if necessary, will go to different places in the country to collect information and take help from local stakeholders.

It was further informed that this cell will help those injured in the July-August mass uprising to get proper treatment in hospitals and in addition to providing necessary assistance to the families of the martyrs and the injured, it will also help the Ministry of Health to take initiatives for treatment abroad for the seriously injured if necessary.

The special cell will take necessary measures to collect and preserve the glorious history of the July-August mass uprising, as well as take appropriate measures for information research and documentation and collect pictures, videos, speeches, articles and reports published in print and electronic media of the mass uprising. It will collect, verify and preserve the necessary information and data from cloud sources. The office order states that the local administration will cooperate closely in this regard.

The special cell will provide necessary assistance in making a documentary or documentary film of the July-August mass uprising. It will verify the information published in the media on this matter and take action and present correct information by sending a protest letter regarding incorrect information.

The funds required to run the activities of the cell will be met from the sanction of the Finance Division entrusted to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from time to time. The Finance Division will allocate the necessary funds for this work.

The office order states that the Cabinet Secretary and the Senior Secretary of the Health Services Division will regularly supervise the activities of the special cell.
