Stating that the interim government's journey towards elections has begun, Law Adviser Asif Nazrul said that the search committee for the formation of the Election Commission has also been formed. The chief adviser may have signed the notification. The notification will be issued today or tomorrow.

He said this at the Secretariat after a meeting with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on Tuesday (October 29).

The Law Adviser said, our journey towards elections has begun. Once the search committee is formed, the Election Commission will be formed. After that, the voter list will be revised.

Mentioning that there were many questions about the voter list, he said, "There were a lot of questions about the voter list. The previous elections were fake. As a result, no one had any headache about the voter list."

Asif Nazrul said, "We will not hold fake elections. We will hold extraordinary, free and fair elections. As a result, the voter list will have to be updated. The chief adviser will decide everything after talking to the political parties."

He said, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has been assured about the trial process, there will be no injustice here, there will be justice. It is not revenge, the July genocide will be tried legally.

The law adviser said, the UN talks about abolishing the death penalty in trials in all countries of the world. But very few countries have abolished the death penalty. He said, Volker Turk has expressed full support for the current interim government. He has talked about making the judiciary independent.

He also said, the head of the High Commissioner for Human Rights talked about the criminal tribunal. He said whether the death penalty can be abolished. We said, there is no question of changing it before the trial of fascists.
