Volker Turk, head of the UN Human Rights Commission, has said that all killings, including police killings and mob justice, before and after the popular uprising in Bangladesh should be tried fairly.

He made this comment at a press conference at the prestigious Intercontinental Hotel in the capital at 6 pm on Wednesday (October 30).

He said that the criminals should be brought to justice through the formation of a commission. An investigation is required to prosecute any killing. In this regard, our goal is to help Bangladesh. Our job is to fully support this change in Bangladesh. We have full confidence in the new government; they can do everything if they get everyone's support.

Regarding the current human rights situation in Bangladesh, Volker Turk said that human rights have changed a lot since the previous period. Bangladesh is going through a change. We will provide all kinds of assistance to improve the human rights situation.

Regarding attacks on minorities, he said that the issues of atrocities on religious minorities should be thoroughly examined. Everything will come under our investigation. We are interested in opening an office in Dhaka to support Bangladesh in the changing situation.

Regarding the help for the Rohingyas, the head of the UN Human Rights Commission said, "We are asked for a lot of help from all over the world, like Bangladesh. We have many examples. Although it is difficult to help the Rohingyas, we are helping."
