Anyone who launders money in the future will be caught: Finance Adviser

Saying that arrangements are being made to bring back money laundered from the country, Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said that anyone who launders money in the future will be caught. Whether it is private or public sector, they will be caught. Anyone who loots will be punished.

He said this at a seminar titled 'Policy Dialogue on Financial and Economic Reforms in Bangladesh' in the capital's Mohakhali on Saturday (November 16) afternoon.

The Finance Adviser said that work is being done to get out of the looting that has taken place in the economic sector. The development strategy that only shows development in the economy needs to be changed. Saying that middlemen are needed, Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said, but because of them, the prices of goods increase. Efforts are being made to reduce them.

Stating that the interim government is being dragged due to the inheritance of wrong policies, he said, it will take time to reform them. We will not be able to do all the reforms. We may make some urgent primary reforms. The remaining reforms will be done by the political government. Reforms are possible with the skills of the people of Bangladesh.

The adviser to the interim government hinted at separating policy and implementation in the revenue sector. He said, most of the institutions are on the verge of collapse. Many projects have been done; feasibility tests have not been done.

The finance adviser mentioned the power deal with Indian business group Adani and said, no tax has been paid on Adani. Time has been taken to pay Adani.
