More than 30 colleges in Dhaka and its surrounding areas clashed with students of Kabi Nazrul and Suhrawardy College in protest against the attack on students of Dr. Mahabubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC). The clash is still ongoing as of writing this report.
The clash has been ongoing since 12 noon on Sunday (November 24).
It is learned that last Wednesday, students of the college staged a protest at Dhaka National Medical College Hospital over the death of HSC student Abhijit Howlader of Dr Mahabubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) due to wrong treatment. At one point on Thursday, students led by Chhatra Dal of Kabi Nazrul and Suhrawardy College attacked the protesting students of DMRC College.
In protest against the attack, students from more than 30 colleges in Dhaka and its surrounding areas, including DMRC College, Notre Dame College, City College, Dhaka College, Noor Mohammad Public College, Narayanganj Government College, Khilgaon Government College, attacked and vandalized Suhrawardy and Kabi Nazrul Colleges. Later, one side engaged in a clash with the other.
It is reported that more than 40 students, including a journalist, have been injured so far. Although the police and army are present to control the situation, the clash is still ongoing.
A student of DMRC College said that this morning, when DMRC and surrounding colleges came to protest in front of the National Medical, students from Kabi Nazrul and Suhrawardy Colleges attacked us again. Later, we tried to repel them.
