The country has recorded its highest single-day death toll from dengue in the past 24 hours. Eleven more people died from the disease between 8 am on Saturday and 8 am on Sunday (in one day), the highest number of deaths in a single day this year. During this period, 1,079 more people have been admitted to hospitals after contracting the virus.
This information was given in a press release sent by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday (November 24).
The release said that out of the 11 people who died in the last 24 hours, nine were residents of the two city corporations of Dhaka. Of these, five were from North City, four from South City. The remaining two were from Khulna division.
It also said that among the newly admitted patients, 97 are in Barishal division, 133 in Chattogram division, 272 in Dhaka division (outside the City Corporation), 194 in Dhaka North City, 121 in Dhaka South City, and 143 in Khulna division. In addition, 58 new patients have been admitted in Rajshahi division, 35 in Mymensingh division, 17 in Rangpur division, and 9 in Sylhet division.
Meanwhile, 1,230 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals across the country in the past day. With this, 82,612 people have been discharged this year.
